The kit is twenty-two line items across five phases, from the body down to a lens pouch. Bought new from Czech retailers it comes to about 114,800 CZK, roughly €4,590. Buying the body and both lenses used and everything else new brings it to about 83,800 CZK, roughly €3,350 — a 27% saving.
The maximally used version, chasing secondhand listings for every filter, battery and cable as well, comes to 81,900 CZK. That is under 2,000 CZK below the smart mix, for a great deal more effort and risk.
| Phase | All new | Smart mix | Max used |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 — Day one essentials | 76,780 | 52,280 | 51,690 |
| 2 — Comfort and handling | 3,800 | 3,800 | 3,500 |
| 3 — Protection and filters | 9,190 | 9,190 | 8,690 |
| 4 — Tripod and travel | 2,050 | 2,050 | 1,550 |
| 5 — Kit expansion | 22,990 | 16,500 | 16,500 |
| Total | 114,810 | 83,820 | 81,930 |
All prices in CZK, August 2026, at an assumed 25 CZK/€. Taking the V60 SD downgrade described below subtracts about 3,800 CZK from every column.
Cost concentration
The body and the two lenses are roughly 80% of the kit cost, and they are the only lines where a functioning used market exists at all. Between them they deliver essentially the entire 31,000 CZK saving.
| Item | New | Used | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sony A7C II body (ILCE-7CM2) | 47,490 | 34,990 | ~12,500 |
| Zeiss Sonnar 35mm f/2.8 ZA | ~22,000 | ~10,000 | ~12,000 |
| Sigma 28–70mm f/2.8 DG DN | 22,990 | 16,500 | ~6,500 |
The body at 34,990 is a like-new grade from Megapixel bazar, in Prague, with warranty and return rights — cheaper than MPB at about 41,000 and well under the 47,490 street price. Sony.cz lists 58,099 as MSRP, which nobody pays. Bazoš private listings run 33,000 to 40,000 with no warranty attached.
The Zeiss is a different situation: it is discontinued, so used is not the thrifty option, it is the only option. It is also close to absent from the Czech domestic market — no clear Bazoš, Aukro or Megapixel listings. MPB had ten or more units at €264–359 with a warranty, which makes it both the cheapest and the safest source at once. eBay Germany is the fallback at €500–600.
The Sigma is the ordinary case: a current lens with a healthy secondhand market. MPB at €644–709 including warranty, Bazoš at 14,000–17,000 without. Only worth buying new if a sale drops it near 20,000.
Accessories
The remaining nineteen items are each between 200 and 2,100 CZK. Batteries, filters, straps, cages, protectors, cables, cleaning gear. The used market for them is thin, the prices are barely below new, and the warranty and counterfeit risk is not worth the tens of crowns involved.
The gap between the smart mix and the maximally used version is under 2,000 CZK. Used-hunting on accessories is a waste of an afternoon.
Redundant items
The lens hood is redundant. The original shopping list specified an ALC-SH114 or a third-party equivalent. That is the wrong part — B&H lists the SH114 as dedicated to the Sonnar 24mm f/1.8 ZA. The 35mm f/2.8 ships with its own hood in the box, the cap-type ALC-SH129, and Sony's own copy describes it as such. A boxed used copy should already have it. A JJC replacement at about 350 CZK is only needed if a used copy arrives without one.
The UV filter is optional. With a Black Mist or a CPL already in the bag, a third piece of glass in front of a compact prime adds stacked surfaces and little else. A bare lens with careful handling is a legitimate choice.
SD card speed class
This follows directly from the spec sheet. The A7C II has a single SD/UHS-II slot and records no 8K — 4K/30p oversampled from 7K, 4K/60p only in a Super 35 1.5× crop, FHD to 120p.
V60 covers every H.265/HEVC mode the camera has. V90 only matters for 600 Mbps All-I and slow-motion, which stills-and-travel shooting never reaches. The V90 card is 4,400 CZK; the V60 is about 2,500. Across both cards in the list that is 3,800 CZK saved for no real-world loss.
For context on the rest of the body: 33.0 MP full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R sensor, BIONZ XR processor, 7.0-stop 5-axis IBIS. Launch MSRP body-only was $2,198 / €2,400 including VAT / £1,999, September 2023.
Counterfeit risk
- SD cards. Counterfeit SanDisk and Lexar cards are rampant on marketplaces and through cheap third-party sellers. Buy from Megapixel, Fotoškoda, Alza, CZC or o-video.cz. Not Bazoš, not AliExpress.
- Batteries. Fake NP-FZ100 cells are common. Avacom bought from Avacom.cz or Fotoškoda is a genuine tested third-party cell, and Fotoškoda's Q&A confirms A7C compatibility with full percentage readout. Avoid no-name "OEM" cells from Bazoš.
- Used bodies and lenses. MPB and Kamerastore / Foto-Košárek grade honestly, include a warranty and a 14-day return window. MPB's warranty is region-dependent — 12 months in the UK and EU. Bazoš and Facebook Marketplace are cheaper and strictly buyer-beware: check the shutter count and insist on a receipt.
Purchase sequence
Body first, because stock fluctuates and it is the single largest line. Live availability at Megapixel bazar needs confirming before committing. New becomes the better option if the only units available are high-shutter, over 50,000, or carry no warranty — or if Sony's student cashback, running through 30 June 2026, brings a new body within about 4,000 CZK of the used price. At that margin the full warranty wins.
Both lenses from MPB in one order, paying cross-border shipping once instead of twice.
One Czech accessory order for everything else, from a single retailer, consolidating shipping and warranty. Drop the hood, consider dropping the UV filter, take the V60 cards.
Limitations
Accessory prices for the SmallRig grip, silicone case, bag, L-bracket, USB-C cable, rain cover and lens pouch are best-estimate ranges from typical Czech retail rather than quotes captured on a specific day. They move with promotions and should be verified at the point of purchase.
The Zeiss used range is the shakiest number on the page. MPB quoted notably lower than eBay Germany, so 10,000 CZK is treated here as a floor. A purchase from a German seller should be budgeted at 13,000–15,000.
The exchange rate is assumed flat at 25 CZK/€, which it is not. Megapixel bazar's used body stock genuinely comes and goes — a previous bazar listing sold out in late 2024 — so the headline 34,990 depends on a unit being in stock at the time of purchase. Bazoš figures throughout are asking prices, and asking prices are not sale prices; the individual advert carries the real number.
